Maria Sharapova will make her reappearance on Tuesday at Mallorca Open after five months out of WTA tour due to an injury. Former World No.1 explained that her shoulder is “feeling well because I have taked time to come back for my first event” and added that her first game is “a challenge because I missed a lot of things”.
“Mallorca Open is a great place to train because it brings me better whather conditions than England to practice”, said Sharapova. Actually WTA No.86 ranked remembered that she was in Mallorca “fifteen years ago” and added that it is “a very nice place to visit driving your car”.
Russian 32 years-old also told that she wants to play “a tournament before Wimbledon to try to win a couple of matches” adding, about her chances in the third Grand Slam of the season, that “anything can happens but my priority is feel my shoulder healthy”.
Five time Major champion also confessed that she stills “having passion for tennis” adding that now she knows “better about how manage the pain because I have shoulder problems during the most part of my career in the last ten years and it is not something new for me”.
“I do not feel pressure positioning myself in my come back, I know that there are also some young talented players in the top and there is a good opportunity for them to write new stories and rivalries”, explained Sharapova. “When you are on court always try to show your best and I know that there are lots of expectations about myself but I am feeling more optimistic than some months ago”, continued.
